Seagate is buying Maxtor for $1.9 Billion

Well looks like Maxtor were doing such a good job of things that their rivals decided to buy them out before they got too big and turned the tables on them. This undoubtedly creates the worlds largest disk drive manufacturer. If we're lucky prices might even take a dip too. With the new perpendicular technologies slated to be released in 2006 it makes me wonder if Maxtor are ahead of the game hence the Seagate push to acquire them. Along with Hitachi who acquired IBM's disk manufacturing division a while back that mostly reduces the competition to just 3-brands now. Anyone remmeber when Western Digital were the biggest name in the industry? Seagate is buying Maxtor for $1.9 Billion
