Okay, so there are a hundred million pages (exaggeration I hope!) out there listing all sorts of Top Ten or Top Twenty lists of the most popular Open Source and Commercial Applications available.

My intention here is to not only keep a list of personal favorites that I can reference when building new systems, etc. but also get some suggestions on what others are currently using and what ultimately might kick a current personal favorite of mine in the pants.
